The Zoo at Night with Music in Honolulu

When we lived on Oahu for 3 years back in the Marine Corps years, the kids (actually all of us) loved not only the beaches (Waikiki, Ewa and Bellows were always famous for weekend type fun) but also the ZOO.  They didn’t have The “Wildest Show in Town” summer concert series then.  However, it is now one of the fun and interesting things to do during the week.  The Concert series returns to the Honolulu Zoo on Wednesday, June 8 (tonight, actually–sorry I am a little late on this one). The series is ideal for families, with admission at $3.00 per person (and the profits benefit the Honolulu Zoo Society’s conservation education programs).

Think about making plans to attend while on vacation, whether at a vacation rental, Turtle Bay, Disney’s new Aulani, a Waikiki Resort or staying with family.  For the Military, check at the Hale Koa or any of the Bases – there might be seasonal passes for the Zoo and this may be included, or at a reduced military rate for you.
Musicians will perform from the zoo’s Main Stage every Wednesday from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for 10 weeks through August 10. John Cruz launches the series on June 8, at 6:00 p.m. Gates open at 4:35 p.m., and families can access the park while they wait for the music. (For example, they can visit the animals until the back of the Zoo closes at 5:30 p.m.) They can also bring their own picnic or take advantage of the food offered by the Zoo’s concessionaire “Taste of the Wild” catering. (No alcohol or high back chairs, of course.)
You can find the Zoo’s calendar for the summer if you are traveling….the zoo is a great place to take the kids while you are there. (Compliments of TravelAgentCentral)
