TSA new rules taking effect

Effective August 26th, 2010: All Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) will be required in order to complete a booking, in compliance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements.
Included:
Name as it appears on a government-issued photo ID when traveling
Date of Birth
Gender
Travel agents must provide SFPD information for all passengers traveling November 1, 2010 and beyond, regardless of when the reservation was booked. Any reservation without this information can be refused by the airline.

If you are not booking your air or vacation plans, of any kind, through a Travel Professional, you need to be aware of  this and act accordingly.  Also note (as we get calls to  help or change all the time) that a booking done privately online is not one which an agent can retrieve or fix.  You are truly “on your own”.
